ELCOS
The Pre-Sessional courses at ELCOS are intensive academic English and study skills programmes suitable for international students who wish to study undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses at Bangor University. ELCOS aims to facilitate students’ improvement of their academic English language and study skills, including writing in appropriate academic styles, lecture listening, reading, note-taking and speaking & presentation skills.
Undergraduate students on the 42-week, 30-week and 20-week courses will also take at least two foundation subject modules related to their intended degree course as part of their studies. The following subjects are available, depending on demand - business studies, economics & finance, marketing, mathematics, psychology, sociology, history, biology, chemistry, physics and computer science.
Postgraduate students on the 42-week, 30-week and 20-week courses will take advanced study skills, including primary and secondary research skills, extended writing and critical thinking.
Students enrolling for any pre-sessional course must have been offered an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Bangor University, must have good academic qualifications and also have a minimum IELTS or equivalent score appropriate for that course.
